duo (October 2013)
The third work in the pervado series, duo uses sounds present within the installation site as a source for musical material. Data from light, heat and motion sensors are used to structure the work and manipulate the sounds. The project files can be accessed at Bitbucket; they are distributed under a Creative Commons Licence.

pervado – the latin term to pass through, penetrate, reach – is a set of works that use changes in local environmental conditions to generate and structure musical material. Influenced by Brian Eno's ambient music concept, works of the series all use sensors to poll data from the surrounding environment and create a soundscape that is unique to the current locale. Sensors include photoresistors, thermistors, PIR motion sensors and humidity sensors. Data from these are mapped various parameters that control rhythmic, melodic, harmonic, timbral, textural and structural elements of the work.
